After a marathon of re-fixes, the Ladies 2s faced North Kildare in their 4th game in 8 days on Sunday. With equal points in the league, there was a lot to play for on this surprisingly ‘balmy’ January afternoon in Clontarf.

Noticing that North Kildare’s keeper had her pads on the wrong legs, we were feeling confident as the game kicked off. Within the first 5 minutes we won a short corner, which was converted by Sarah “Stan-O” Stanley, off a rebound.

Not long after, Lauren went on to score another goal from play, drawing in North Kildare’s goalie and slipping the ball into the back corner, putting us 2-0 ahead 10 minutes in.

As we started to really feel the effects of our tired legs, the second half was a lot scrappier and required more defending then the first. However, we managed to hold them out and held onto our 2-0 lead until the final whistle.

Having secured 9 points from 12 this week, we’ve put ourselves in a good position for the remainder of the season and we’re looking forward to facing league leaders Kilkenny next week. Supporters welcome! (Bullring, 12pm)

Thanks to our wonderful (and loud) coach Bobbo and to Dan Ashton to stepping up last minute to umpire. Always a strong whistle to have on the side-line.
